The rat and the rooster

In Chinese astrology the rat and the rooster is not compatible - as both are competitive creatures. Rooster is outspoken, keen on the spotlight and grabbing attention - the natural defense of the rat is to nag at the rooster. However this was not the inspiration for my design, our beloved pet rat died over the weekend and I thought it would be fun to include a rat in my design, they love to sit on a height and look at their small world - I will miss her inquisitive cute little face. The rat and rooster and fan graphics are from Graphics fairy - linking to Brag Monday.

Pigeon post

In a way pigeon post could be considered the first form of airmail. Pigeons are still used to carry messages in some remote regions of the world where other postal options are not available, and pigeon enthusiasts also keep birds for the purpose of sending messages to other enthusiasts, keeping this ancient tradition alive. This is my entry for the Mail Art challenge at Three Muses.

Friday freebie - 4711 stamp

One of my most treasured belongings is a small bottle of 4711 Eau de Cologne that belonged to my mother. It has a special place on my dresser and I love looking at the beautiful label, but most of all the scent is wonderful. I scanned the label and made this stamp from it, click here for your free stamp.

Friday freebie - purple phlox

I have this big old book with a leather belt around it - my mom use to press flowers and leaves in it, she then made beautiful arrangements with the flowers and framed it. After 20 years some of the flowers are just a speckle of dust and some preserved well - like these garden phlox. I scanned them and then enhanced the colour digitally. Click here for your free bunch of phlox.
