A collage of some of my favourite things, I find it difficult to express in words my love for owls - aren't they just the most wonderful creatures. Lately I am fascinated with foxes, and don't get me started on my forever love for roses and shades of green and pink and vintage labels, postcards, birdcages . . . you get the picture :)

Flower girl

She's the latest craze and a very nifty new addition to the wedding procession, just wheel her in, in front of the bride and store her in the cupboard afterwards, until the next wedding - every church should have one! My entry for Three Muses Land of Odd challenge

Rose ampersand

This is so interesting - from Wikepedia, the ampersand can be traced back to the 1st century A.D. and the Old Roman cursive, in which the letters E and T occasionally were written together to form a ligature. Traditionally, in English-speaking schools when reciting the alphabet, any letter that could also be used as a word in itself ("A", "I", and, at one point, "O") was preceded by the Latin expression per se (Latin for "by itself"). Also, it was common practice to add at the end of the alphabet the "&" sign as the 27th letter, pronounced and. Thus, the recitation of the alphabet would end in: "X, Y, Z and per se and". This last phrase was routinely slurred to "ampersand" and the term crept into common English usage by around 1837.

Pegasus

I love the colours on this beautiful rose garland card from Graphics Fairy - I decided to do something different and challenged myself to only work with the one image and one other element, so I filled and outlined the Pegasus with the garland and also filled the typeface with it. Little bird

Leopard spots and roses

When I saw the pink and brown challenge over at Theme Thursday, my first thought was hot chocolate and fluffy pink marshmallows- yum!!! I love the rich chocolate brown script of this card and I thought it pairs so well with the dusky pink roses - I decided on the leopard spots as a background for that touch of whimsy.

Strawberries and roses

Due to Blogger problems I couldn't post the freebie on Friday - sorry about that! Right now though I wouldn't mind this plate of strawberries with a huge dollop of cream, the delectable strawberries and the background are from Graphics Fairy - linking to Brag Monday.

Chocolate cake

I have baked many cakes, but this is my first digital one, and might I add - I think it is very pretty ;-) My first attempt at making a vector image - the cake. My entry for the chocolate challenge over at Take a Word. What are you waiting for - get a plate, cut a slice and tuck in!

Rosehead

Do you remember those colourful flower petal swimming caps from the 1960' s? It was kind of my inspiration for this piece - red and black always make such a striking combo!

A collection of roses

I know it probably doesn't look that way, but this was one of those designs that took me nearly half a day to finish, due to all the detail cutting of the roses, but it was so worth it - I am so pleased with the result. The flourish is from a vintage music sheet cover -  my entry for the flourish challenge at Theme Thursday.

Love

"Those who have love, have wealth beyond measure" - my fortune cookie saying according to my birth date. I was hoping for - "you are going to inherit a small fortune" ;-) but hey who needs a small fortune when you already have wealth beyond measure? This is my love entry for Theme Thursday.

New Beginnings

Just a few lines to wish you a happy 2011 - I am slowly starting to get into the swing of things and will be back in full force next week. Until then, I leave you with this . . ."From small beginnings come great things"

Bye Bye Blackbird . . .

I experimented with some sepia filters to give this piece a bit of a dark feel. I love how the red roses contrasts with the black! My entry for the Three Muses challenge, Blackbird.
